The Trees of Pont-Aven: The “Trees of Pont-Aven” developed during my Artist-in-Residency in Pont-Aven, France. These drawings were the direct result of my observations and encounters during daily walks along the hills and woodlands. I wandered along the foot paths as I wandered in my thoughts and imagining. The trees surrounding me called to my attention and I often found myself in their good company. They were quiet but not speechless, their misshapen growth revealed an animated character, gesticulating with their wild and crazy limbs, or solemn and wounded from over pruning.
